David Dumond Obituary

David W. Dumond, beloved husband of Patrice (Russell) Dumond, lost a brave, two-year battle with cancer Nov. 20, 2009.
Born in Waterbury July 31, 1944, the son of the late Felix and Marjorie (Campbell) Dumond, he was raised in Southington and lived much of his adult life there. He graduated from Southington High School and served in the U.S. Air Force as a military police officer. He served as a police officer at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain for 20 years. He then worked as an emergency services dispatcher with the Southington Police Department for 10 years, retiring in 2006. He was a member of the Calendar House golf and bowling leagues, the Blue Knights International Motorcycle Club and the Southington Elks Club.
In addition to his devoted wife of 25 years, he leaves six children. He leaves two daughters at home, Katelyn and Miranda Dumond. He also leaves his daughter, Shaney King and her husband, Jerry, of Yukon, Okla., his daughter, Christie Bavaro and her husband, Scott, of Plantsville, his son, Scott Dumond, and his wife, Julie, of Coventry, and his daughter, Suzanne Diaz and her husband, Pedro, of West Hartford; as well as many grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a large, much-loved family of in-laws. He is also survived by a sister, Eleanor Colasanti and her husband, Richard, of Brooksville, Fla.
His family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Hartford Hospital, the Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center, and especially the CT Multispecialty Group Infusion Center in Wethersfield, as well as VNA Hospice Care. His family would also like to thank all of his dear friends and relatives who helped to make his last days happy ones, with special thanks to the Friday morning breakfast club.
A memorial service was held Nov. 24, 2009 at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, Southington. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made the Connecticut Children's Medical Center, 282 Washington St., Hartford, CT 06106, which held a very special place in his heart.
