Dean Petow Obituary

Dean A. Petow Sr., 71, of Kensington, died July 9, 2008 at UCONN Medical Center in Farmington.
Born in New Britain, the son of the late Olga (Russel) and the late Arthur Petow, he was an owner and president of Battery Service company in New Britain, and the owner of Dean Angus Farm in Kensington. A University of Connecticut graduate and farmer raising Black Angus cattle for many years with his kids, he loved agriculture and exhibiting cattle at fairs throughout the country. Dean celebrated many accolades with champion stock at the national and local level. Known for his dry humor in the faithful following of Bob Steele, he befriended many people throughout the community with his humor.
He is survived by his six children, Dean Petow Jr. of Kensington, Sherry Sarra of East Windsor, Rick Petow and his wife Wendy of Canton, Scott Petow and his wife Sharon of Lebanon, Danean Petow of Glastonbury, Bruce and his wife Lisa of Vernon; a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Jack Reeves of Kensington; grandchildren, Jason, Leanne, and Jenifer Buden, all of East Windsor, Andrew Petow of the U.S. Marine Corps, Sam and Kyle Petow of Canton, Austin Petow of Vernon, Chris and Shannon Bay, and long time friend Sandra.
Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 306 Industrial Park Road, Middletown, CT 06457, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
