Donald Daniels Obituary

Donald T. Daniels, Jr.
Donald Thomas Daniels, Jr., 79, beloved husband of Theresa M. Daniels, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long battle of myelofibrosis. Born in New London, CT on December 31, 1945, he was the son of the late Donald and Frances Daniels. He had resided in Meriden for nearly 50 years and attended Old Saybrook High School.
Donald was employed by Pratt & Whiteney in Middletown for more than 30 years and retired in 2005. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish.
Donald was a member of the Pop Warner Football Organization; Nutmeg Go Kart Association and was a football coach for Wilcox Technical High School. He was also a member of the Waterford Speedbowl and Stafford Springs Raceway and built stockcars. Don also loved to ride his Harley and work on his classic car.
Besides his wife Theresa of 58 years, he is survived by his two daughters, Deborah Lee Crasso (Bill) and Sarah C. Matteson (Sean); his seven grandchildren, Rebekah Taylor (Nathan), Anthony Crasso (Noriko), Gina Crasso, Jessica Horkavy (Allan), Jakob Matteson (Megan), Wesley Matteson, and Natalie Matteson and his three great-grandchildren, Niko, Zack and Sierra. He is also survived by his two sisters, Joann DeToro and Donna Warner. He was predeceased by his five siblings and his beloved son, Donald T. Daniels, III.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the John J. Ferry and Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT 06450. A funeral service will follow at noon at the funeral home. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
