Edward Mocadlo Obituary

Edward S. Mocadlo Jr.
May 20, 2024
Edward S. Mocadlo Jr., 88, of Wallingford, beloved husband of Marie D. Mocadlo, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2024.
He was born in Meriden, on February 25, 1936, a son of the late Edward and Caroline (Waskowicz) Mocadlo Sr.
He graduated from Meriden High School where he was Student Conductor of the MHS Band in 1954 and went on to Danbury State Teachers College where he played baseball and majored in music. Edward served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958 and qualified for the 1st Army Band. He then worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a Mail Carrier for 10 years before moving on to the State of CT D.O.T. as a General Foreman for over 25 years until his retirement.
Post retirement he worked side jobs at Adamo's Garage and was a driver for his son-in-law's business.
He started his own band, the Ed Mocadlo Orchestra in the late 50's and early 60's. He also played with a great number of Polish musicians, including Gene Wisniewski the Harmony Bells, Meriden native – Mr. Walter Solek and Orchestra, the Rich Bobinski Orchestra, and Joey Milardo and the Musical Cavaliers, just to name a few. He was very proud of his Polish heritage.
Edward had an immense love for his family and his greatest joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He looked forward to his nightly calls with his friends Nelson and Joey.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, the love of his life, Marie D. Mocadlo; his children, Stephen and Brenda Mocadlo, Wayne and Chris Mocadlo, Lorrie and Jeff Barboza, Walter Dziekan, Craig Dziekan, and Linda and Alfred DeRosa; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sons, Mark Mocadlo and Allan Dziekan; and his sister, Maureen Cwirka.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Friday, May 24th, from 11am to 12:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. Interment with military honors will follow in the CT State Veterans' Cemetery in Middletown.

I graduated with Ed in the great Meriden High School Class of 1954.(Simply the Best). He was a friendly, quiet, nice person who was the leader of the MHS Band in his Senior year under Director Walter Angus. I attended many dances over the years with Ed playing the Saxaphone for many bands. Walt Solek Orchestra was my favorite.
Thank you also for serving your Country Ed, may your Soul rest in God`s eternal peace!
Sincerely, with love and peace,
John A. Young

Very sorry to hear about Ed's passing. He was a friend of the family for decades going back to the 1950s when he played in my father's band, The Walt Dolecki Orchestra. He always had a joke to share on and off the bandstand. He was a master of what I coined "The Mocadlo Shuffle", which is the art of shuffling microphone stands around the stage at the end of a gig while others pack up the heavy music equipment. Ed will be missed.

We were saddened to hear of Eddie’s passing. A friend and fellow musician for over 35 years, he will be truly missed but will never be forgotten. The Rich Bobinski Orchestra Family
