Ethel George Obituary
Ethel M. (Thomas) George, 91, of Plainville, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother died Jan. 16, 2011, at the West Hartford Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Jan. 6, 1920, in Wilkes Barre, Pa., daughter of the late Arthur Nesbitt and Minnie (Chere) Thomas. She resided in Southington for 38 years before moving to Plainville with her daughter, Nancy Isaac, in August 2004. A graduate of Kingston Township High School, Trucksville, Pa., she was an office manager for the Globe Department Store in Luzerne, Pa. for 10 years providing a good quality of life for her family. Moving to Southington in 1966, she was the office manager for Colonial Blower of Plainville for over 27 years, retiring at the age of 74 and enjoyed her retirement. She was a member of the Plainville United Methodist Church and the Plainville Senior Center. She was a caring, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that always put others needs before her own. Her family would like to extend sincere thanks to the physicians and N2 nursing staff at The Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain Campus, and the West Hartford Health and Rehabilitation Center for their compassion and extraordinary care given to her.
She was dearly loved by all especially her devoted daughter, Nancy Isaac, of Plainville; and her dear son, Robert Thomas George and his wife, Karyn, of Hanover, Pa.; her five grandchildren, Terri Lynn Miller, of Southington, Ron Isaac Jr., of Shelton, William George, of Bristol, US Army Staff Sgt. Arthur Thomas George, of Fort Benning, Ga., and Jessica Bender, of Rockwall, Texas; her four beloved great-grandchildren, Caleigh Siena Miller, of Southington, Mackenzie and Ashlyn Bender, of Rockwall, Texas, and Sumar George, of Ponce Inlet, Fla. She was predeceased by two brothers, Clarence and Irving Thomas.
The funeral was held on Jan. 20, 2011, at DellaVecchia Funeral Home, Southington, to Plainville United Methodist Church, Plainville, for a Mass. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Southington.
