Gerald Arkenbout Obituary

WALLINGFORD - Gerald N. Arkenbout, 82, of Wallingford, beloved husband of 60 years to Emily (Schock) Arkenbout, departed this life on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Gerald was born on April 13, 1931, in Jersey City, N.J., son of the late Jacob and Mathilda (Meyer) Arkenbout. He was U. S. Army Veteran who served in the Infantry during the Korean Conflict and was awarded Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, Occupation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal. During his employment career he worked as a Deputy Game Warden and later retired as a Water Plant Operator with the U. S. Military Academy. In his spare time he enjoyed reading and was an avid New York Mets fan.

He is survived by his wife, Emily, of Wallingford along with their children, Douglas Arkenbout, of Washington Gerri Meyer and her husband, George, of Washington, Steven Arkenbout and his wife, Marsha-Kay, of Wallingford, Lillian Bradbury and her husband, Larry, of New York, Elaine LaBarre and her husband, Ron, of New York and Jacob Arkenbout, of Wallingford. Gerald also leaves eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by a son, David Arkenbout; and six siblings, Richard, Bernice, Louise, Henry, Albert, and Mathilda.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, June 6, at 11 a.m. at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St., Wallingford. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. To leave a message of remembrance or for directions please visit www.BCBailey.com
