Irene Katechis Obituary
She is survived by her daughters, Helen and her husband, Peter Pappas, and Sue and her husband, David Esposito; grandchildren, Daniel Pappas and his wife, Amanda, Andrea Pappas, Katie Esposito, and Anthony Esposito; brother-in-law, John Stargu; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Irene was predeceased by her brother, George Covras and his wife, Mary; and sister, Mary Stargu.
Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral liturgy on Friday, March 16, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 480 Racebrook Road, Orange. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, 817 Old Colony Road, Meriden. Visitation with Irene's family will take place on Thursday, March 15 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Porto Funeral Home, 830 Jones Hill Road, West Haven. Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements. Memorial donations in Irene's name may be made to St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church. I was so sad to hear of Irene's passing-We were on our way to FLA when I heard and just returned over the weekend. Irene was like a second mother to me for so many years. I think I was at your house, Sue, more than at mine. I can see her in the kitchen. She always made me feel welcome and loved. Although it was something that I just took for granted it is now that I cherish the memory. I am sending you all love and sympathy.

I fondly remember your mom when you and I were good friends sooo many years ago. Your mom was always so welcoming and friendly. It has been many years since we have been in touch, but please accept my sincere condolences with the passing of your mother.
