Janet Thayer Obituary

Southington - Janet L. (Demmons) Thayer, 58, of Southington, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. She was the loving wife of Paul M. Thayer for 27 years and the proud mother of their only son, Jake M. Thayer. Janet was born on February 14, 1965 in Wallingford, to the late John Sr. and Lucia (Sweeton) Demmons. She graduated from Mark T. Sheehan High School and went on to earn her Associate's degree from Charter Oak State College. Janet worked at Northeast Utilities for 25 years and was currently working as an Executive Assistant at ESPN in Corporate Citizenship. For the last 10 years at ESPN, she loved her job and the people she felt lucky enough to work with; especially Kevin Martinez and Hudson. Janet loved spending time in the yard, volunteering for Special Olympics and at Bread for Life, and walking her dogs, Benson and Logan. She was also an avid Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Janet was beautiful, kind, caring; she will be deeply missed. In addition to her husband Paul and son Jake, Janet is survived by her sister, Virginia Saunders Foote and husband Gary of Asheville, NC, 2 brothers, John L. Demmons, Jr., of Plainville and Steven Saunders and wife Janice of Colchester, VT and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Jakiela. In lieu of flowers, donations in Janet's memory may be made to Bread for Life, PO Box 925, Southington, CT 06489 (https://southingtonbreadforlife.org/). I remember Janet well as a little girl and miss her and her family
members, I knew Jack and Lou very well, and remember when I stayed at there house for a week while the parents went off on a trip and enjoyed taking care of all of them. It was and still is one of my most

My deepest condolences to Janet's husband and son at this very sorrowful time. Also my deepest sympathies to all of Janet's siblings. I have known the Demmons family for a very long time being friends with their parents Jack and Lou when they resided in Yalesville. I remember Janet as a very young child and have fond memories of all of them when I stayed with them for a week when their parents went on a trip. Janet and I spoke recently of getting together soon, and and so very sorry this meeting never came about. I hope she is now reunited with her parents and Elizabeth. My prayers and thoughts are with all of you at this time. Would love to hear from you all.
Sincerely, Jean

I had the pleasure of knowing Janet from work at Northeast Utilities and through joint friends throughout the years. Janet was absolutely the sweetest girl with the most genuine smile. It did not matter when she saw you last, she remained the same loving, friendly girl with that smiling welcome. Her love of life and for her family was obvious by the way she spoke of her husband and son, that beautiful loving nature, and that gorgeous smile. Janet had a way about her that made you feel good simply being around her. She was fun, yet calm and made you feel comfortable, always. She had the beautiful sparkle in her eyes. Her presence alone was a gift to us all.
I pray you can get through this difficult time and the hard times to come knowing she is with God, watching over you, shining her love brightly toward you and guiding you, always.

Dear Paul, Jake and Janet's family: I am truly heartbroken to hear of Janet's passing. We worked together for many years at NU and formed a wonderful relationship. She had the most beautiful smile, was kind, caring and the sweetest person to know. Her loss is devastating to all who knew and loved her. Sending my deepest sympathy and praying that you find comfort in beautiful memories of Janet. May she be at peace with the Angels in Heaven.

Paul and Jake, I am deeply saddened to hear of Janet's passing and offer my heart felt condolences to you. I know that you both are hurting to lose such a wonderful wife, mother and friend.

I have known Janet all her life as I lived down the street from her and her family growing up. I spent countless days at the Demmons house with her sisters. She had grown to be one of the most caring and sensitive women I have known. Her smile would always brighten a room and make everyone feel comfortable.

No amount of words can heal your pain but I hope that the wonderful memories you have of her will help you through this loss. Know that she is in God's hands now and will always be watching over you.

Paul and Jake, I´m so sad for your lose.

My heart is broken. Janet was the kindest, loveliest, most selfless person you will ever meet. She was funny, and always there for anyone who needed it.

Janet was a lifetime friend. Although we didn´t see each other frequently, we could pick up where we left off as if no time had passed.

My favorite memories are of playing softball with our Northeast Utilities friends. LuAnn, Gail, Jennifer, Wendy, Sharron and so many others.

I am a better person because of Janet. She shone her light on so many, including me. Her friendship was the greatest gift.

I will always treasure her memory. Rest peacefully my friend.

Paul and Jake, I am so, so sorry for your loss. Janet was one of the sweetest souls I've ever known. We were casual friends and coworkers for years and played softball together several summers. She was always a joy to be with. Jake, I know how she loved you fiercely. My deepest condolences to you both.
