I will always remember going to lunches with Jen at Wesleyan. She was a kind listener and person. And I am proud, but not surprised, to hear how she made the world a little bit better.

I am so sorry for your loss. I knew from Ohio State. We worked in the same research lab for years. She was the kindest, most caring people I have met in my life. I have so many memories of her but one that stands out in my head is her love of cats and how she helped all the abandoned ones too. Whenever she had to leave out of town she would ask me to care for them. I would do it just because of her because I am scared of cats. She had one- Benedict- oh did he live up to his name. But Jen loved them all. She was a gentle soul to them and everyone she met. I kept in touch with her up until last November. Somehow we always found each. I will miss her dearly. And everytime I see a cat, I will think of her.

I am so very sorry to hear this. I just found out today. I knew Jennifer for so many years. We met in Rye, we lived in the same building together. She was the most kindest and beautiful soul I have ever met. I will never forget the night we had so much fun together. We seen a broadway show together is was the Carol King story. I often took her shopping when her health was failing. She was the strongest person I know. Never complained. I will miss her forever. God Bless you Jennifer. Goodbye my friend. fly high. I will never forget you. Annette

Dr Jennifer Stark worked with the National MS Society for 9 years. One of her chief responsibilities in the research department was to oversee our fellowship training and early career awards. These awards are so important to ensure that there will always be a well-trained research workforce focusing on curing multiple sclerosis.
This work requires sensitivity, planning skills and strategic thinking. Jen had all of those qualities and during her tenure she greatly enhanced these programs. Over nine years she ushered in well over 250 new researchers into the field of MS.
Another responsibility was to plan and conduct the Tykeson Fellows Conference, which was held every other year to bring together research and clinical trainees from many parts of the world. Jen had to organize and direct the volunteer planning committee, develop the program and recruit some of the top MS experts in the field as speakers. These conferences really help cement trainees' commitment to MS, help them develop life-long collaborators, and give them skills they need to have successful careers devoted to MS. Jen did an amazing job with this work.
Despite her chronic struggles with her health, Jen was a cheerful presence at our New York City office. She talked about her family with pride, and loved her cats.

I can still hear "Hi, Uncle Dave" on the other end. We made up for not being together in person, by frequent and often lengthy phone calls. Jen´s thoughtfulness, sweetness, sense of gratitude, and humility were consistent. We grew even closer the last few months, which I´ll forever be grateful for, though now missing her comes from a pained heart.
I´m glad for the time we did spend together, sharing our passion for gardening. Her first love was flowers - of course because they might help the ailing bee population. She spent so much time, in and among the flowers, yet was never stung. I´m sure the bees felt her love.
I persuaded Jen to try growing a few vegetable plants. As they grew and began offering a harvest, she was truly in awe, showing the innocence and wonder that were so part of her being. She gave so much to the world in her quiet way, and seemed surprised when life thanked her somehow.
"Hi, Jen." - - You know how much I miss you. You will always be part of my heart. Love, U.D.

Jen was my best friend for 33 years. She was the most beautiful angel on earth. Everyone who knew her benefited from her loving presence, quick wit, and unmatched intellect. Love you Jen. You´re with God now.

My late wife Maureen, would be preparing a typical English afternoon tea with fresh-baked scones plus the trimmings on a Sunday and would say something like, "I'd better put a little extra in for Jen in case she pops in", and more often than not there'd be a knock on the door and a lovely smiling Jen would be standing there. She loved to visit Maureen and I when we lived in Rye, NY and our house was about halfway between the village and her apartment, perhaps a welcome rest-stop on her way home. She was like family to us, conversation came easily. Rarely did she dwell on her own illness, more often on how Maureen's treatment for ovarian Ca or on what was happening at Einstein in my MS group. Yet we both knew that Jen was having a hard time with her disease. She would stay for an hour or so, savoring Maureen's fresh-baked scones and then quietly take her leave until the next time. Less frequently, she would look in on her way home on an evening and join us for dinner - no trouble, I usually did take-outs because of Maureen's illness - and the two of them would have a lovely chat. Maureen loved Jen's visits and I am pretty sure the feeling was mutual. Since leaving Rye in 2012 and losing Maureen in 2013, I've thought often about Jen's visits, her friendliness, braveness and humility. Since then, Jen and I have exchanged Christmas cards and the occasional telephone call but it was never the same as those afternoon teas. I shall miss her, just as I miss those scones and the warmth of her company. The Good Lord will surely have a special place for Jen and Maureen to continue their chats.

I remember the first time I met Jen, at Butch´s house with her sisters, back in the 80´s. She radiated a gentle, kind, loving energy that was so strong. She had unbelievable strength and courage to fight this disease. She will forever have a place in my heart. Sending love and comfort to her beautiful family. Xoxo

Jen gave me the gift of her friendship from her earliest days on staff at the Nat'l MS Society. Fond memories flood my thoughts -- Cardinals/Mets games; the Butterfly House at Natural History Museum; a Shania Twayne concert; lots of long conversations; birthday and holiday cards that always arrived on time. She is missed!

Jennifer, the greatest regret your West Coast Stark family has is that we have been seperated from you and the East Coast Family by a continent. But you all have been present in our hearts, and you especially through your failing health sweet Jennifer. Love always, Uncle Bud and aunt Reta.

Jen fought with grace and love. No matter what she was going through her first thoughts were always about how others were feeling. She loved life and never gave up. Jen was a sweet soul with a mighty spirit.
