John Carr, Obituary
He was born in Meriden, Jan. 20, 1945, a son of the late William P. and Margaret Edell Carr. John had been employed by Stop & Shop as a meat cutter until his retirement. He was an adoring grandfather and an avid Boston Red Sox fan. John enjoyed an almost daily ritual of visiting with his friends at his favorite breakfast spot. He also looked forward to the friendly competition and good laughs each "Saturday Night Card Night" and he was a heck of a singer each New Year's Eve.
In addition to his wife Gail, he is survived by his son, John T. Carr Jr.; his daughter, Sarah Carr and her husband, Greg Krieger; his grandson, Benjamin Krieger; his siblings, William Carr and his wife, Ellen, Robert Carr and his wife, Barbara, Eleanor Corazzini and her husband, Raymond, and Richard Carr and his wife, Rosemary; his sister-in-law, Madeline (Mrs. Ernest) Carr; and his brother-in-law, Michael Backes and his wife, Kathy; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Ernest Carr; and his sister, Sally Carr Lane.
John's family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Masonicare Hospice and Sr. Barbara from Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care for the excellent care they provided.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wednesday, Feb. 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 12, at 10 a.m. directly at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 65 N. Main St., Wallingford. Interment will be in In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford. Gifts in his memory may be sent to The Sisters' Project, www.thesistersproject.org, PO Box 1643, Wallingford, CT 06492.
