John E. Pregler

WALLINGFORD-John E. Pregler, 83, of Wallingford, died, Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford. He was the beloved husband of the late Janet Inglis Pregler.

John was born in Bridgeport, Jan. 11, 1931, a son of the late Anton Pregler and Edith Richards Pregler and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. John graduated from UConn and went on to work as a research chemist at American Cyanamid Company and Olin Chemical Corp until his retirement. He had served many roles in the Wallingford Republican Town Committee and was active in Wallingford Little League and the Babe Ruth League. He enjoyed playing bridge and stamp collecting.

He is survived by his children, Steven Pregler and his wife, Karen, Wendy Harding and her husband, Rick, and Donna Sprague and her partner, Blaine Gamble; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his siblings, Betty Kent, Bill Pregler, Charlie Pregler and Doris Jonosky; and many nieces and nephews.

His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Thursday, Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Interment with military honors will be in In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
