John Vetre Obituary

John Vetre, 80, loving husband of Dorina (Soucy) Vetre, died on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Midstate Medical Center after a long illness. Born in New Britain, Connecticut on October 4, 1940, he was the son of the late Sisto and the late Ann (Sokolowski) Vetre. He had graduated from E.C. Goodwin Technical School in New Britain, CT and was employed by various companies including North & Judd and Circuit Wise, Inc. He was a proud U.S. veteran, having served with the Marine Corps. John loved sports including baseball and basketball; in fact, he was a basketball player himself. He also enjoyed playing pool. He loved his animals, especially birds. Besides his devoted wife of 43 years, he is survived by his sister, Shirley Ann (Vetre) Fisher of Sewell, New Jersey; his niece, Dawn Marie Ragan (John) of Erial, New Jersey; his nephew, Jeffrey Adukinas of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and many cousins. John also leaves behind his adored sister-in-law, Claire Daigle of Kensington, Connecticut.

Due to the current pandemic, all services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden, CT 06450. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to veterans in need at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System, Newington Campus, 555 Willard Ave, Newington, CT 06111.
