Lucien J. Poirier

MERIDEN - Lucien J. Poirier, 83, of Meriden, husband of the late M. Florence (Charpentier) Poirier, died on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at MidState Medical Center, after a brief illness.

Born in Beauceville, Quebec, Canada on April 28, 1926, the son of the late Florian and Vitaline Poirier, he had resided in Meriden from 1949 until moving to Arizona in 1988. He returned to Meriden in 2005 where he resided until the present. Mr. Poirier was employed by Allegheny Ludlum Steel Company of Wallingford for over 37 years, retiring in 1988.

He is survived by three daughters, M. Lorraine Badorek and her husband, Thomas, of Winslow, Maine, Lynne M. Upton, of Alamogordo, N.M., and Cindy M. Premo and her husband, Ronald, of Lebanon; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason and Jonathon Goodman, Amy Martin, Elizabeth Hendsbee, Brianna and Aubrey Premo; 14 and a half great-grandchildren; a sister, Alice P. Bisson, of Beauceville, Canada; and a brother and sister-in-law, Marcel and Helen Poirier, of Meriden; also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters and a brother.

The funeral and burial in Arizona will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
