Mark Aldrich Obituary

Mark Aldrich, 72, husband of Diane "Doot" Maloney Aldrich died peacefully after a long illness on Saturday November 13, 2021.

Mark was born in Meriden on November 4, 1949. Son of the late William and Jeanne Aldrich. Mark graduated from Maloney High School in 1967. Upon graduation Mark attended Georgetown University before transferring to Trinity College in Hartford, CT. He married Diane on May 15th, 1971. Mark spent the early part of his career achieving success in the banking industry. In 1976 he began work with his father-in-law, Lester Maloney, at Meriden Mfg, where he served as Vice President. After retiring, he pursued his lifelong dream of being a teacher. He completed the accelerated teacher program, upon finishing he became a middle school math teacher in Hartford. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling to his favorite place, Lauderdale by the Sea, where he spent countless hours reading books under the sun. Mark loved his wife Doot more than anything and they were able to celebrate 50 years of marriage this past May.

Family meant so much to him and the light of his life were his two children, son, Ryan Aldrich, and daughter Kelly (Chris) Leary. He was most proud of his five grandchildren, Chase Leary, Evan Aldrich, Bret Leary, Jake Leary, and Olivia Aldrich whom he affectionately called "Beans". He also leaves behind his sister-in-law, Sharon Maloney Fox, with whom he shares many cherished memories with, as well as her two children, niece, Audra (Aron) Baston and nephew Michael (Rose) Fox.

He also leaves behind his brother, William Aldrich of Vermont and sister Martha Shurtleff of Georgia and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Jeff Aldrich.

Mark's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, November 16th from 4-7 p.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT. The funeral service and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers please send donations to: Shriners Hospital 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa Florida 33607 or @donate.lovetotherescue.org.
