Maurice Landry Obituary

Maurice Landry, 80, of Meriden, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden after a lengthy illness.

Maurice was born on December 10, 1942 in Connors, New Brunswick, Canada son of the late Vital "Pit" and Fabienne "Bee" (Morneault) Landry. Maurice grew up in Canada and from a young age learned the value of working hard, originally starting out working on his family's farm moving on to later become a lumberjack. Maurice moved to Connecticut and raised a beautiful family, passing on strong work ethics and determination to his three children. A true lover of nature, Maurice spent a lot of time outdoors as an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a natural when it came to hunting, many would agree he was a sharpshooter, never leaving the wilderness empty handed. When it came to fishing, he always left his favorite spot, Black Pond in Meriden, with plenty of fish. A handy man his entire life, Maurice spent many years as a carpenter fixing or building just about anything his hands touched, a talent he took great pride in. Hard working hands at rest, Maurice will be missed deeply as his family and friends cherish the memories they have shared together and will always feel honored to have known such a great, strong man.

Maurice's family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff at MidState Medical Center and Complete Care in Meriden for their exceptional care and compassion given to Maurice during his battles with COPD.

Maurice is survived by his son, Michael Landry, his daughter Sandra Brunet, his son Bruce Landry and his spouse Shelley (Cararini) Landry; his grandchildren Caitlyn Fontaine, Brittany Landry, Cody Landry, and Cole Landry; his great-grandchildren Sydney Warren and Weston Bogue; his sisters Jeannine Landry and her spouse, Alberie Landry, Odelie Landry, Helena Landry, Rachel Plourde and her spouse, Lionel Plourde, Lottie Abbis, Leola Landry; his brothers, Roger Landry and Danny Landry; his former wife Louella (Michaud) Boucher; and his longtime girlfriend Lucy Decrisantis; and a large extended family of cousins, nieces, and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Coco. He was predeceased by his brothers, Normand Landry, Benoit Landry, infant brother Roger Landry.

Services and burial in celebration of Maurice's life will be held in Canada at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Maurice can be made to the American Lung Association in CT, 45 Ash St, East Hartford, CT 06108 (lung.org).
