Mikelyn Ann "Mike" Csonka passed away on December 16, 2024 at Vernon Manor in Vernon, Connecticut. She was 73 years of age.
Mike was born July 10, 1951 in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to John and Ann (Rosner) Csonka. Her childhood home was in Fairfield. Mike was a graduate of Roger Ludlowe High School and earned her B.A. at Central Connecticut State College.
Mike's career path revolved around the arts. She taught art, then worked at Master Framers in Bloomfield, and later managed the custom frame department at JoAnn's in Manchester. As a hobby, Mike created watercolor paintings, specializing in pet portraits.
A lover of animals, Mike volunteered for Animal Friends of Connecticut. She fostered and adopted several canine friends, and placed numerous others in forever homes. Mike and other animal advocates started the adoption group Rescue Me. She served as their president.
For several decades, Mike was a donor of whole blood, platelets and plasma to American Red Cross in Farmington. In keeping with her giving nature, Mike volunteered during retirement years at Cornerstone Food Pantry in Rockville. She also donated time at Our Companions animal rescue and sanctuary in Ashford.
Mike is survived by her siblings: brother John Csonka, Jr. and his wife, Lori, of Stratford; sister Martha Tonges of Naugatuck; brother Bill Csonka and his partner, Liz Bosco, of Florida. She leaves many dear friends, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and her feline companion, Tank.
