Milton Flamer Obituary

BRIDGEPORT - Milton M. Flamer, 93, passed away on Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, at St. Vincent's Medical Center.

Mr. Flamer was born in Ansonia, a son of the late David and Ida (Rogoff) Flamer, and was the husband of the late Shirley Siegel Flamer. Milton and Shirley were the owners of Vienna Baking Co. in Meriden, for over 25 years. Together they built a loving partnership and a flourishing business. He was a past president of the Connecticut Bakers Association. After an early retirement, he became an avid golfer, bowler and racquetball player. In later years, he turned his attention to bridge, poker and other card games. He played poker until the last month with his Tuesday night game (that was sometimes played on Wednesday). Milton was a member of Cosmopolitan Lodge, the Masonic order of New Haven and a lifetime Hadassah Associate. He was also a member of the Honorable Menschen at the JCCS and Congregation Beth El.

Mr. Flamer is survived by his daughter, Alana Fodeman and her husband, Alan B. Fodeman of Fairfield, his grandson, Morris Fodeman and his wife, Farin Chasin Fodeman of Manhattan, and his granddaughter, Cydney Fodeman and her partner, Steven Dedrick of Boulder, Colo. "Poppop Milk" had four great-grandsons, Jacob Slack, Lucas Fodeman, Zachary Fodeman, and Ayden Dedrick-Fodeman. In addition, he is survived by a sister, Evelyn Greenberg of Simi Valley, Calif.; and his dear friend, Frances Hecht.

Funeral services will take place on Monday, Dec. 28, at a time to be announced from The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home 88 Beach Road in Fairfield, with interment following at Rodeph Sholom Cemetery on Kings Hwy. in Fairfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Hadassah c/o Erica Cohen 78 Random Road Fairfield, CT 06825.
