Nicholas "Uncle Nick" Carabetta
Nicholas "Uncle Nick" Carabetta, 89, passed away at the West Haven VA Hospital on Thursday, February 22, 2024. Born in Mammola, Italy, on December 7, 1934, he was the son of the late Anthony and Elizabeth Carabetta. He had resided in New York and lived with his sister, Rose Femia, and later moved to Connecticut to be with his mother. He graduated from Meriden High School. Nicholas was a landscaper in New York, and he worked at Wilcox Tech as a custodian. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the U.S. Army. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.
Nicholas liked making pizza and worked at a South Meriden pizza parlor. He loved the art of the deal, enjoyed eating out, exotic cuisines, going out to the movies, watching old Western movies, and loved cars. He was always generous with his time, willing to offer his help, especially driving people.
Nicholas is survived by his nieces and nephews, Joe Femia, Betty Esposito, Raymond Femia, Jimmy Femia, Anthony Volo, Rosalie Volo, and Giovanni Volo. He is also survived by several great-nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Rose Femia, Angela Volo, and Assunta Commisso, and his brothers-in-law, Nicodemo Volo and Vincenzo Femia.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, February 28th, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT 06450. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Campus. Entombment with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Mausoleum.
