Norma E. (Ferriere) Deary, 101, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 9, 2024. She was the loving wife of the late James J. Deary.
Norma was born in Wallingford, February 15, 1923, a daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Downey) Ferriere and was a lifelong resident of Wallingford for 101 years.
Norma worked for a short time at the FBI in New Haven where she met the love of her life, James Deary, and had four children. Norma was an avid golfer, having won numerous local and state tournaments with four holes in one. She was a lifelong member of the Wallingford Country Club and will be missed. She had a fine sense of humor and the availability to help and encourage her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Norma is survived by her sons, James J. Deary Jr and his wife, Sallie, Kevin E. Deary and his wife, Rhonda, and Thomas M. Deary and his partner, Priscilla Robinson; her grandchildren, Kris, Cari, Michael, Jennifer and Grady; her great-grandchildren, Andrew, Emily, Brenna, Connor Emerson and Harrison; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Lenore McAuliffe
Norma's family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. when the funeral cortege will proceed to Church of the Resurrection where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery in Wallingford.
