Patricia Axtmayer
Patricia Hayes Axtmayer, 70, died on Wednesday, October 20, 2021, after enduring two years of cancer treatment.

Pat was one of the kindest humans to walk the earth. She was a nurse, Red Cross Volunteer, blood and platelet donor, mom, mentor, grandmother, sister, lover of libraries, dog rescuer, and the woman who dedicated her days to making other people happy.

She raised four children, Alfredo, Patrick, Aileen, and Caitlin, and fostered them with the mentality to give back to the world.

Those children, along with her five grandchildren, and the community she has impacted so greatly, will continue her legacy of kindness.

As she has given during life, she has donated her body to Quinnipiac Medical School. Therefore, there will be no viewing. The family will be available for people to pay their respects starting at 10 a.m. preceding an 11 a.m., memorial mass. Services will be on Saturday, October 30th at The Church of the Resurrection in Wallingford, CT. Masks are requested for those in attendance.

In lieu of flowers (no really, Pat would prefer you donate that money to someone in need!) you can make a charitable donation to The Axtmayer Family Cancer Fund: https://cfgnh.org/axtmayerfund

Caitlin, I am Jim Slevin. That was a beautiful Mass for an extraordinary Soul in Pat Hayes!!! I went to Notre Dame with your Mom from K through 8th grade. I will always remember her as one of the nicest persons I have ever met. We lost touch after High School. We reconnected through Father Jeff Johnston on FB in 2019 and traded life stories on messenger. I am so happy to have had those conversations!!! Love to All The Axtmayers

Alfredo, Patrick, Aileen, and Caitlin, Our deepest sympathies on the passing of your beloved mother. What an incredible person, inspiration, role model, and most importantly, MOM! There's no doubt that she's as proud as can be of your fortitude during this difficult time. I am sure she's loving the way you are caring for one another. That's is another part of her amazing legacy. While we are saddened by the loss, we are honoured to celebrate her remarkable life and we will endeavour to remember her spirit forever. You all are loved so much.

My deepest sympathy to the Axtmayer family on the passing of an immeasurably kind, appreciative, joyful and loving wife, mother and grandma of a wonderful and gifted family. Her family was a part of my life as students and athletes at St. Margaret's-McTernan School. She had a smile that radiated those around her. Pat always had words of respect, kindness and confidence in me as a teacher and coach. Her children were gifted both on the athletic playing field, classroom and in many extracurricular activities. Pat was an angel sent from heaven to bring love and joy to the world. I can still visualize her smile and words of wisdom. My thoughts and prayers will be forever a part of my daily communication to those close to me that have entered the gates of heaven. They will be waiting for Pat to enter the gates of heaven and enjoy a life of peace and joy. God Bless, Coach Ray Behr

I was the teacher of two of Pat's wonderful children, Patrick and Alfredo. They were extra special students that I loved and will always remember. When I met their mother I realized why her children were such special individuals. Pat was the most dedicated, kind, caring parent I had ever met in my 25 years of teaching. To come to know Pat was to be introduced to an angel on earth!! She connects with every person she meets in a special way so you truly feel you are meeting a wonderful friend. What a blessing for her children to have had the privilege of growing up under the influence of this incredible woman. I am thankful I had the privilege to be involved with this exceptional family.

I went to Notre Dame grammar school K-8th with Pat. She was always the kindest kid in the class. I reconnected with her in 2019 and it´s obvious that she remained true to herself all these years from 1965. God bless her and her Family!!!

Pat was one of the nicest people I´ve ever met. Even when she was horribly sick, she dragged herself down the driveway just to give me a Christmas present. Always giving. Always caring. If there´s anyone in life you should emulate, it´s Pat.

I cry as I see this message of Pat's passing and pray that she did not suffer. She was perhaps one of the kindest women I have ever known. She was the proudest Mom and Grand Mother ever. Your family so much like my own, will survive with many many happy memories. You all have been blessed with an angel on earth which I am sure you all know. My love to you all.
