Raymond McGuire Obituary

Raymond McGuire Jr.
01/31/2026
Raymond George McGuire Jr. died January 31, 2026 at the Hebrew Home in West Hartford at the age of 94 and was a resident of Cheshire since 1968. He was the devoted husband of Genevieve (Smith) McGuire for over 62 years until her passing in 2014. Raymond was born in Waterbury on December 11, 1931, son of the late Raymond G. McGuire Sr. and Anna (Judd) McGuire.
He was raised in Waterbury and attended Sacred Heart Grammar School and Crosby High School. Raymond was a proud US Army Veteran, honorably serving his country during the Korean War. After returning home from his service, he utilized his G.I. Bill and attended the University of Bridgeport, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1958. Following graduation, he was hired by Anaconda American Brass Company and later General Electric where he was manager of the Advertising and Sales Promotion in the Construction Industry Division. Ray worked as an advertising contractor following his retirement from General Electric.
Ray had a great passion for Opera and Classic Cinema. He was a member of the American Legion Post 92, a life member of the VFW Post 10052 in Cheshire and member of the Cheshire Senior Center. Ray was grateful for the medical care that he received from the West Haven VA Hospital, Yale New Haven Hospital, the Yale Eye Center, Cheshire House, MidState Medical Center, Regency House and the Hebrew Home.
He is the beloved father of Matthew Judd McGuire of Cheshire; and is also survived by several loving cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, James A. McGuire.
Funeral arrangements for Ray will be held privately at St. Bridget Cemetery, Cheshire. Memorial contributions may be made to the Yale Eye Center, PO Box 7611, New Haven, CT 06511. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire has been entrusted with his care. To leave online condolences for his family, please visit www.fordfh.com.
