July 24, 2011

To the loved Kenefick Klan, lead by wonderful parents, DICK AND JAYNE. You were all such a huge part of my growing up at Hawks Nest Beach, and welcomed all of us kids to your cottage on S Street, when we were shuffled out of W 2! Dick had a warm greeting and quick sense of humor that put all of us at ease. May he meet up with all of the cherished members of the HNB gang that have left us before him. There will be lots of laughter and reminiscing going on up in heaven, I am sure, and a cannon blasting off in his honor!

Sincerely, and with lots of loving memories,

Misty Garvin Johnson

To the wonderful Kenefick Family,

A short note of "thanks" for sharing your wonderful "Dickie" with the entire Garvin Family. I myself have soooo many wonderful memories of him, each and every one garnered with a smile etched upon my heart and mind. He was the very rare person who possessed the ability to light up a room the moment he entered. So many nights gaggles of people spent on the porch on S-Street at HNB - HOWLING until our stomaches ached (and the neighbors ears rang!) I feel truly honored to have known him. He ALWAYS made me feel as though he was so darn happy to see me...with one exception... I was about 12 years old as I RAN into S-1 to use the bathroom only to discover he and Jane were "conserving water" that afternoon in the shower. Without hesitation Dickie roared..."hey kid, we gave at the office!" (Grub has since installed locks on all the bathroom doors.) I will miss his humor, his dignity and his genteelness. I can honestly say that my good fortune of knowing him helped shape me into a better person in so many ways. (For starters, I NEVER enter any room without first knocking on the door!)

Farewell for now Dickie. I know you have alot of "catching up to do" with many friends and family who are greatly looking forward to their opportunity to sit, laugh and reminisce with you on a certain porch somewhere special.

Lastly, THANK YOU for your service to this wonderful country. Because of your selfless call to duty alongside so many other brave men and women in the battle to preserve this precious democracy, I fly my Stars and Stripes with pride and a sense of commitment to carry on your generation's mission with continued vigilence in maintaining the hard fought freedoms we enjoy and must preserve for future generations in these, the United States of America.

Thank you.

With all my love and respect,

Leslie Garvin Considine

To all the amazing Keneficks who feel more like family than friends, we are so very sorry to hear about "Dickies" passing-forever the hallmark of extreme humor at Hawks Nest-Dana learned from the best! Dick filled our lives and cottages with his infectious humor and laugh, it was a priveledge to grow up surrounded by such merriment -our generation will carry the torch...and whoopie cushion for him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time, hopefully Uncle Jiggs can muster a 21 cannon blast salute in his honor. I pray that Dickie is now wearing his "Adult breakfast pants" and joining Krum in a cocktail salute to a life well lived.,All our love, Julie Jane and family.
