Rita Barry
Rita Barry (nee McCarron), 75, passed away on Monday, October 19, 2021. Rita was loved greatly, first by her parents; Joseph and Rita McCarron of Drexel Hill, PA and then by her brothers; Joe, Fran and Bob and sisters-in-law (turned sisters) Charlotte, Connie and Cathy. Rita was married to the love of her life Dennis Barry until his passing in 2014. Rita said that raising her three children - Carolyn, Patti and Tom - was one of the greatest joys of her life.

She is survived by her children and their partners- Andrew, Mario and Sara. Rita was a loving grandmother to Zachary, Amelia, Dominic and Felix.

Rita was passionate about Catholic School education and dedicated her career to supporting students, educators and communities as a teacher and then as a Catholic elementary school principal. Rita was a leader, an artist, a beloved wife, mother and friend. While Alzheimer's took her memory, it can't erase the love felt by anyone lucky enough to be in her circle. Her children are forever grateful for the love and kindness shown by Rita's friends and family over the years.

The family will receive visitors on Monday, October 25, 2021, 9:30 a.m. at St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Philadelphia, PA, followed by a mass to celebrate her life at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rita's memory may be sent to the Meriden Farmer's Market (Meriden Farmers Market, 200 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450) or the Alzheimer's Association.

My sympathies to Rita´s family. She was very devoted to Catholic education and worked hard to make St Bridget School a strong community. I remember one late afternoon when Dennis came to pick up Rita but she still had a bit of work she wanted to finish....in his typical style, he grabbed the mic to the PA system and began to sing to her....not realizing there were other people still in the building! We shared that laugh for years! Yet Rita truly lit up when she talked about her family. May you find comfort in her love of all of you.

My very deepest condolences to the Berry Family. Rita and Dennis were neighbors for many years while raising their children, here in Meriden. They were loved by everyone who met them. Dennis brought delightful humor to are lives and Rita sweet, kind, loving personality was a joy. I´m so grateful that she was in my life , although too briefly, however. She will long be remembered. May God bless her and hold her in His loving arms. Most sincerely, The Leonard Family.

Carolyn, Patti and Tommy, I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am that your mom lost her battle with Altzheimers. She was such a sweet, lovable, faithful, hardworking woman who looked for the good in every person she met. What a tremendous loss to the entire St. Bridget community. I will never forget (when I gave her a 3 week notice that I would no longer be working at St. Bridget School), how she wrote me a note and said "Chris, do not worry, God will provide for you and for us". Now she will once again be united with her soul mate, Dennis. May your memories give you strength. Rest in peace Rita. With much love and blessings, Chris l

Dear Carolyn, Patti and Tom and family. Please accept my most sincere condolences on the loss of your Mom. I used to babysit for you and remember when your Mom and Dad had Tommy and babysat for him too when you lived on Sweet Birch. I'm so sorry to hear of their passing. They were beautiful, wonderful people.

Oh what wonderful memories we have of Rita during the years you kids were growing up in Meriden. She was always so happy and positive and we loved getting together with the kids for fun projects. I specifically remember a baking project and making a floury mess! Dennis and Rita and the Barry kids are part of our happy years when all the kids were young and we spent summer days at the outdoor center. RIP Rita
