Ronald Edward Seppa, beloved husband of Cynthia Harrison Seppa, died peacefully on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. Ron was born on June 15, 1947 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, to the late Simon and Helmi Seppa of Meriden, CT.
Ron was instilled with the work ethic of his Finnish parents on the farm in upper Michigan. His family later moved to Meriden, where Ron graduated from Platt H.S. in 1965. He was a dedicated student and excellent football player both at Platt and later at Boston University. Ron also served in the CT National Guard and then married his high school sweetheart, Cynthia.
Ron's extensive career in the oilfield industry was spent at world class corporations which included Teleco Oilfield Services, Baker Hughes, and APS Technology. He was known as an expert in mechanical design, and his contributions to the oilfield industry are significant, having earned numerous patents for the designs of drilling technologies that are now industry-standard worldwide. Even a week before his passing, he was contemplating the redesign of the medical equipment in his hospital room.
To his loved ones, Ron was known for his fun-loving nature, sharp wit, and his strong, no-nonsense presence. He enjoyed family camping trips around New England, playing countless rounds of golf, rooting for the Red Sox and Patriots, and in later life, taking trips to St. Maarten with Cindy and their lifelong friends. After retirement, he and Cindy spent their time in Westerly, Rhode Island and Cape Coral, Florida, where he appreciated the beautiful sunsets while sipping a bourbon.
Ron leaves behind Cindy, his beloved wife of 53 years; his children Terry, Jennifer (Louis) Bottari, and Rick (Ashleigh); his brother Jerry (Nancy); grandchildren Massimo, Sofia, Giorgio, and Cameron; and great-grandson Alex, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Simon and Helmi and grandchildren Aubrey and Alex.
The family would like to acknowledge the excellent care given to Ron by the dedicated healthcare teams at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham & Women's Hospital.
Family and friends are invited to join a graveside service to be held on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 11am in Walnut Grove Cemetery, 817 Old Colony Rd., Meriden, CT. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
