Ruth Ann (Kurtz) Wojtasik, aged 74, of Wallingford, Connecticut, known for her remarkable kindness and grace, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Hartford Hospital. She was the devoted wife of the late General Joseph T. Wojtasik, with whom she shared 45 years of love and companionship.
Ruth was born on July 20, 1949, in Waterbury, Connecticut, to the late Earl J. Kurtz Sr. and Ruth (Barto) Kurtz. Raised in Cheshire, Connecticut, she graduated from Cheshire High School before pursuing her studies at Central Connecticut State University and Southern Connecticut State University, earning degrees in both science and special education.
In addition to her career as an educator, Ruth wholeheartedly embraced her roles as a wife, mother, and grandmother. She cherished visits to Boothbay Harbor, Maine, where she delighted in assembling puzzles, playing Monopoly, and reading by the ocean with her late husband and grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by her son Joseph Wojtasik Jr. and daughter-in-law Lisa Wojtasik; son Lance Wojtasik and partner Ronnieann Turbert; stepdaughter Christine Mitchell and son-in-law Brian Mitchell; grandchildren, Joseph Wojtasik III, Brianna Wojtasik, Brendan Mitchell, Kyle Mitchell, Tate Mitchell, Aiden Wojtasik, Khaleesi Wojtasik, Lance Wojtasik Jr and Logan Wojtasik.; brothers, Charles Kurtz and Hugh Kurtz; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband General Joseph T. Wojtasik and her brother, Earl J. Kurtz Jr.
Ruth Ann Wojtasik will be remembered as a dedicated educator, caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and wife. Her grace, intelligence, and compassion will be profoundly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Ruth's Family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 am directly at the First Congregation Church of Cheshire, 111 Church Drive, Cheshire. Interment will follow in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Wallingford.
