Thaddeus "Ted" Joseph Nowakowski, born September 3, 1928, beloved husband of 59 years and best friend of Anne (Toczko) Nowakowski passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2022, surrounded by his wife and their special friend Jeannie Ziomek. Ted was born in Meriden, son of Joseph and Mary (Koziol) Nowakowski, youngest of twelve children. He was a graduate of St. Stanislaus School and Meriden High School class of 1946. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War era, 1950-1952, stationed in Germany. Over the years he was employed at International Silver Company, Wilhelm Davies in Wallingford and for 25 years at H. O. Penn Company in Newington. Ted was predeceased by his parents, 5 brothers and 6 sisters. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister Stephanie Klarich of Ft. Worth, TX, a very special and caring niece and nephew, Andrea and David Martancik of Meriden, and a special nephew, Donald Klarich of Ft. Worth, TX. Donald resided with Ted and Anne during his service with the US Navy in Groton. Also, he is survived by special nephew Paul Nowakowski, his fishing buddy, very dear friends, Gene and Shirley Wiernasz of Middletown, the Dillon Family of Portland and several nieces, nephews and godchildren. Ted was a 52-year member of the IUOE Local 478 International Union of Operating Engineers, the Catholic War Veterans Post 1166, American Legion Post 0075 and the 169th Infantry Veteran Corp. He was an active and faithful parishioner of St. Mary of Czestochowa Parish and loved being a Eucharistic Minister, visiting any homebound parishioners while he was in better health. In his retirement he took up his lifelong hobby of photography. He spent most of his time traveling the entire state seeking beautiful landscape scenery and taking pictures. He loved flying in vintage planes and eagle watching along the Connecticut River. For his 80th birthday he enjoyed a hot air balloon excursion courtesy of his loving niece and nephews. Along with his wife Anne, they traveled extensively in the Unites States, Europe, Canada and the Caribbean Islands.
