Victor Diseroad Obituary

VICTOR EUGENE 'GENE' DISEROAD Victor Eugene "Gene" Diseroad, 86, of Souderton, PA entered into rest on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Grand View Hospital. He was the loving husband of Jane S. (Alderfer) Diseroad for 35 years. Gene was born in Bloomsburg, PA to the late Victor Hugo Diseroad and the late Rebecca (Kessler) Diseroad. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church Bloomsburg. Gene graduated from Bloomsburg High School, class of 1945, after which he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He graduated from Pennsylvania State College with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. Over the last 40 years, Gene was employed in highway construction for a variety of companies including: Eastern Prestressed Concrete, Thomas Durkin, Glasgow and Cowan Associates. He was a member of Penn State Alumni Association and a former member of the Indian Valley Country Club. Gene enjoyed golfing and traveling with his wife. He was an avid reader who particularly liked civil war history. Gene loved all sports, especially Penn State Football, but also followed many local and family sporting events. He enjoyed spending time with all of his nieces, nephews and their children and had a good relationship with the neighborhood kids as well. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Donald "Bud" Diseroad & wife, Patricia of Manchester, MD, Frederick Diseroad & wife, Marie of Sellersville, PA; three nieces, Donna Diseroad-Patton & husband, Gary of Moraga, CA, Michele Slater & husband, Matthew of Line Lexington, PA, Meredith Williams & husband, Richard of Sellersville, PA; three nephews, David Diseroad & wife, Frances of Manchester, MD, Kurt Diseroad & companion, Cathy of Pasadena, MD, Mark Diseroad & wife, Donna of Lansdale, PA and numerous great-nieces & great-nephews. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 11:00 am at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church, 713 Blooming Glen Road, Blooming Glen, Pennsylvania 18911, where friends may meet with the family from 9:30 am - 11:00 am. Inurnment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Macula Vision Research Foundation, One Tower Bridge, 100 Front Street, Suite 300, West Conshohocken, PA 19428 or MAMA Project, Inc., 2781A Geryville Pike, Pennsburg, PA 18073. THANK YOU Gene for being such a wonderful and supportive neighbor to us, but more importantly, to our children! Skylar always loved coming to visit you, as you would spoil her with all kinds of goodies that she wouldn't get at home :) Of course, her favorite goodie, was your family recipe of ginger snap cookies. Rest in peace! Know that we will continue to look after Jane and we will help her to keep all of her cherished memories of you and her close to her heart!
