Wayne McDermott Obituary
Wayne was born in Meriden, Oct. 18, 1950, a son of the late Wayne B. McDermott Sr., and Jeanruth Anderson McDermott and had been a Wallingford resident for many years. He was a 1969 graduate of Lyman Hall High School and graduated from Middlesex Community College in 1972. He was employed by Tiger Enterprises in Plantsville.
In addition to his wife Cindy, he is survived by his son, Timothy McDermott and his wife, Elizabeth, of Meriden; and his daughter, Katherine McDermott, of Middletown; his two brothers, Paul McDermott and his wife, Elise, of Middletown and James McDermott and his wife, Gloria, of Meriden; his brother-in-law, John Wardwell, of West Haven; five nieces; and one nephew; and many cherished friends whom he considered family. Wayne enjoyed the outdoors, especially exploring the White Mountains in N.H. and S.C. He was an avid geocacher and New England Patriots Fan. Wayne loved adventures and would never pass up an opportunity to spend time with his friends and family. He will always be remembered for his outgoing and unique personality.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 5 until 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held in The Wallingford Funeral Home, Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Meriden. Wayne's legacy will continue on in others through the gift of tissue donation. In lieu of flowers gifts in his memory may be sent to the Old Man of the Mountain Legacy Fund, P.O. Box 6, Franconia, NH 03580.

Cindy and Family, growing up on Cooper Avenue was one big family. Burt was the biggest kid of all the Cooper Ave. Bunch so he kept us all in line. It was one game of football or basketball or baseball after another. Then it was lashing my sister to a telephone pole ( all in good fun ) and pelting her with red berries! I remember the day Burt went away to school in Michigan. That was a big deal for the whole neighborhood! Burt and I then worked at Wallace Silversmiths for a year. After that I left for the Army and left Wallingford. I would visit now and then. I can still hear his laugh in my head! I am better off for that I am sure. I am so sorry for your loss Cindy. I was saddened to learn of the paasing of Wayne. I graduated from Lyman Hall H.S. with Wayne. A very nice guy. I live in Rhode Island now that was why there was a time gap. I'll say a prayer for Wayne and his family. --- Alfred Grindell of Middletown, R.I.

So sorry for your loss. We had great memories from Girl Scout Camporees with "Mr. Mc-Corn-dog" and the rather large fires he'd build and the stories we'd tell around them.

I may not have "known" him that well, but I do have to say whenever I did talk with him he was extremely funny and nice to me.
