William Christopher Obituary

William Theodore Christopher, 80, of Bristol, formerly of Plainville, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, June 19, 2013.

Born in Scranton, Pa. on Sept. 10, 1932, he was the only child to the late Michael and Caroline (Pysar) Christopher. Raised and educated in Scranton, he enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly upon graduating high school. Bill proudly served his country for two years, going on to join the Navy Reserves. He married the love of his life, Lucy (Graziano), with whom he shared 57 years. They moved to Plainville where they raised their family of three, and shared many happy times. Bill's early passion was restoring antique cars, for which he won many awards. He retired after more than 40 years as a master mechanic and supervisor in the construction industry. The former "Mayor of Grant Ave.", he and Lucy moved to Bristol five years ago, where he earned the same title for his admirable ability to be the go-to man for anything that needed repair or simply have a chat with his neighbors and befriend everyone he met. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, attending his sons' car races, and spending time with his family brought him much joy. He leaves many cherished memories and will be greatly missed by his family and countless friends.

In addition to his wife, Lucy, he leaves his children, Michael Christopher and his wife, Jennifer, Theodore "Teddy" Christopher and his wife, Quinn and Judy Mannix and her husband, Joseph; his grandchildren, Michael Jr., Nicole, Jacob, and George; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Family and friends gathered on June 23, at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville. A Mass of Christian burial was held June 24 at St. Matthew Church, 120 Church Ave., Forestville. Burial was held at the convenience of the family. Bill may be remembered with contributions to the Plainville Community Food Pantry, P.O. Box 233, Plainville, CT 06062.
