William Nitchke Obituary

William "Bill" Nitchke, 66, husband of Brenda Nitchke, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022. Born in Meriden on January 18, 1956, he was the son of the late Gene Nitchke. William and Gene had a very special father son bond. Since his father's passing, William would go every year to Lighthouse Park to remember his father who he dearly missed every day.

Bill worked for the Department of Transportation for the state of Connecticut. His last few years prior to retiring, he enjoyed working on the ferry boats in both Glastonbury and Chester. Bill was a big nature lover. He really enjoyed his mornings, riding around looking for deer and going to the park watching for the eagles. Fishing was also one of his passions. He would enjoy sitting there for hours just taking it all in.

Besides his wife Brenda, Bill is survived by his son Guy Lyons, brother John Nitchke, stepsister Debra Molsick, daughter Amy MacConnie, and stepmother Barbara Nitchke. He is predeceased by his stepbrother Keith Nitchke.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 E. Main St., Meriden, CT 06450. For online condolences, please visit jferryfh.com.

Billy and I did alot of crazy things together back in the day. I remember fishing with him one time, i couldnt see my line (eyes going bad) to re-rig and when i did he had his limit already!! We laugh the rest of the day about that. Billy was a great guy and a GOOD friend. God bless u Billy. May your stringer be full of fish.......so the eagle on your shoulder can eat some too

John,
I am sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of playing baseball with this man and gaining his friendship. He played with a passion and integrity that I admired. May God bless and his family in this most difficult time.
