William Straub Obituary

William J. Straub, 61, of Wallingford, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2022. He was the loving husband of Jennifer M. (Puttre) Straub. William was born in Meriden, June 8, 1961, a son of the late Raymond "Jim" and Catherine "Kay" Straub. He was a graduate of Central CT State University and worked in accounting as a medical billing supervisor. In addition to his wife Jennifer, he is survived by his children, Anna Catherine Straub and Thomas James Straub. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas J. Straub. Bill dedicated his adult life to service of others through his love of coaching youth teams in Meriden and Wallingford. He led a non-profit organization, the Thomas John Straub Wrestling Foundation. Money raised by the foundation is awarded in the form of an annual college scholarship to a Maloney H.S. Wrestling Team member in memory of Bill's brother. The Foundation also supports Meriden Youth Wrestling. William's family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on THURSDAY, Sept. 29th from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on SATURDAY, Oct. 1st, at 10am directly at St. Bridget of Sweden, 175 Main St., Cheshire. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Meriden. www.wallingfordfh.com

Bill, you were a great person go out out having fun and driving around of Friday nights. We had so much great fun and crazy time cramming every one into the car and hitting the road. I will never forget those times. I also still think about your brother and the great times we had with him. I am really touched to hear about yous passing. My deepest and sincerest condolences to the entire Straub family. I got to know Billy mostly through his interaction in youth wrestling. His devotion and dedication to local youth wrestling was greatly appreciated and will truly be missed. Just an all round great guy!
