Gill, MA - "It is with great sadness we announce the passing of cancer survivor Andrea Chase with her husband by her side. She was known to many as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Andrea was born and raised in Deerfield, Massachusetts, where she attended Deerfield public schools, and in 1965, graduated from Frontier Regional High School alongside her best friend and self-proclaimed sister, Sondra Winn Lavariere. She went on to complete a nursing program at Smith Academy, and after graduation, worked at Franklin Medical Center as an LPN. While raising her children, she provided a babysitting service, where she became like a second mother. Once her own children were grown, she took jobs as a home health aide and hospice worker.

She was predeceased by her parents, Melvin B. Harris and Gladys (Foote) Harris, along with three infant brothers.

Survived by her husband of 59 years, Fred Chase II, she leaves behind her two children, Joyce Russ-and her partner, Marcus Tifft of Shaftsbury, Vermont-as well as her son, Fred Chase III of Gill, Massachusetts.

She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Ashley-married to Eric Paquette of West Brattleboro, Vermont-Amber Russ-partnered to Colin DeZess of Dalton, Massachusetts-grandchild, Ethan Chase of Gill, Massachusetts, as well as five great-grandchildren, and numerous family members, both related and not.

Andrea will be buried alongside her cat, Lucy, and will be greatly missed by her newest cat, Willy.

Services will be at the convenience of the family.

We ask for any donations to be made to hospice centers, St. Jude’s, Shriners Hospital, and Northfield Ambulance."
