Cathy Ann Newman
Auburn, ME - Cathy Ann Newman, 64, died December 28, 2022, at Clover Healthcare where she had been a resident since 2019. Prior to living in Auburn, Cathy resided in Augusta at the Inn at City Hall.
Cathy was born November 4, 1958, the youngest of three girls, to the late Dwight and Nancy (Pomeroy) Newman in Winchester, MA.
In 1975, she moved to Norridgewock, Maine to live on the family Christmas Tree Farm, graduating from Skowhegan High School in 1976. Cathy loved flowers and after attending Rittners School of Floral Design in Boston, she worked briefly for a florist in Maine. Her love of color, design and decorating continued throughout her life. She loved children and worked as a nanny for a while, but for most of her working years she worked for a variety of companies as a Data Entry Operator, clerk and receptionist including working for the State of Maine for 29 years.
Cathy had a wonderful child-like spirit, loved social gatherings (family celebrations, activities at the nursing home and any type of craft…jewelry making, coloring, making seasonal decorations and cards.) Cathy had a strong faith and looked forward to worshiping with her Winthrop United Methodist Church family and participating in church activities when physically able. She was very creative, caring and compassionate always with a twinkle in her eye and a smile.
Cathy is survived by her sister Wendy Mansur Prée and brother-in-law Richard Prée (Ashfield, MA) and sister Rev. Heidi Chamberland and brother-in-law Rev. Joseph Chamberland (Gray, ME). She is also survived by 1 niece and 3 nephews and their spouses: Megan Prée Shulda and her husband Morgan; Erin Mansur and his wife Jen, Nathaniel Chamberland Flynn and his wife Alicia and Brandon Chamberland and his wife Joelle. Cathy loved and is survived by great nieces and nephews: Owen, Eli and Isla Mansur; Gertrude and Silas Shulda; Roxana and Daniela Chamberland Flynn and a new baby Chamberland due any day now.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Androscoggin Hospice and the staff at Clover Healthcare for their care and support.
