1935 - 2015

NORTHFIELD - Daniel F. Morgan, 80, of Old Turnpike Rd. Northfield died Wednesday afternoon (3-4-2015) at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Greenfield, Ma. on February 21, 1935 the son of Miles and Winnifred (Irish) Morgan. Dan was a lifelong Northfield resident, receiving his education in Northfield schools and graduating from Northfield High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force in Greenland for 4 years. He worked at the family garage the Morgan Garage in Northfield becoming its owner before it closed. He then worked for the B & M Railroad for several years and then for Western Mass. Electric Co. finishing his career at All States Asphalt Co. all as mechanic. He was the mechanic for the Northfield Highway Dept. and very proud of keeping all the vehicles running during major snow storms. After retiring, he became the maintenance man at Dickinson Mem. Library in Northfield. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, and Shriner. He served as Lodge Master of Harmony Lodge in Northfield five times. He also served as Secretary of Harmony Lodge for 11 years. He was the proud recipient of the Joseph Warren Medal in 2014, and achieved status of 50 year veteran of the Masons.
He is survived by his wife, the former Karen Livingstone, and children: Lauri Quenette and her husband Terrance of Warwick, MA. Melissa Morgan-Oakes and her husband Gene of Northfield, MA. Jody Mills and her husband Bill of Portland, ME. and Jaime D'Entremont and her husband Phil of Longmeadow, MA. He is also survived by his step children Michelle Adams, and Jeffrey Adams, and his grandchildren, Daniel Adams, Megan Oakes, Nathan, Alecia, and Miles D'Entremont, Matthew Quennette, Jamie Adams, and Olivia Adams. He also leaves one brother James of Florida, and his lifelong friend Robert Phelps, ""Who he never grew up with."" He was predeceased by a brother, Edmund.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday (3-10-2015) at 10:00 A.M. at the Kidder Funeral Home, 1 Parker Ave. Northfield, Ma. The Rev. Cindy Frado, Pastor of First Parish Unitarian Northfield, will officiate. Calling hours will be Monday (3-9-2015) from 4-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
Spring committal services will be held Saturday, May 9 at 11 a.m. at Pentacost Cemetery, with full military honors. The Rev. Cynthia Frado will officiate.
