Daniel 2022) Obituary

Daniel M. Bartos

(1954 - 2022)

Montague, MA — Daniel Myron Bartos, 67, of Montague passed away suddenly at home on Monday, May 9, 2022. He was born in South Deerfield, MA on June 21, 1954 to Edith (Stokarski) Bartos and the late Roman Bartos.

Dan graduated from Frontier Regional High School in 1972 where his love of football, especially playing defense, was born. He was given the nickname "Bert" during high school and his old friends still called him that.

He was an avid fisherman, starting at 7 years old when he helped his 4-year-old brother Ron haul in a 24-inch pickerel at Cranberry Pond in Sunderland. Dan enjoyed bird hunting with his Brittany Spaniels earlier in his life, and also adored his first dog Sabina. He had massive love for the Patriots. It was great fun not only cheering them on with him, but hearing Dan dissect each play. He and friends were passionate shuffleboard players. He had a witty sense of humor, there was always a lot of laughing out loud when with Dan, he had a larger-than-life personality. Dan was well-known for his Polish golumpkis and kapusta. We have endless happy, loving memories of Dan growing up both in our immediate family and with our many aunts, uncles and cousins in our large, extended Bartos and Stokarski families. Dan frequently mentioned how lucky he was to have grown up with such great parents, and he cherished them deeply.

Dan's career was as a master toolmaker, perfecting his craft first at the former Greenfield Tap & Die, and most recently at the Montague Machine Company, from which he recently retired. Dan was a communicant at the Holy Family Church in South Deerfield, where he had served as an alter boy in his youth.

He is survived by his son, Michael Bartos of Erving, MA; his mother, Edith Bartos of South Deerfield, MA; his partner Jackie O'Sullivan of Montague, MA; his sister Mary Bartos of Westborough, MA; his brothers Ronald Bartos (wife Janet O'Leary) of Foxborough, MA and Bernard Bartos (wife Barbara) of Asheboro, NC; many cousins; a niece (Beth) and nephew (Ben). His father Roman Bartos predeceased him in 2013.

Arrangements are under the care of the Wrisley Funeral Home, South Deerfield. There will not be any formal funeral services. A celebration of life will be held at Dan's favorite fishing hole in the future.
