Deborah Becker

1950 - 2018

SUNDERLAND - Deborah Becker, 68, of Sunderland, MA, died Monday, June 4, 2018. She was born to Geraldine Meyer and Robert Becker, April 2, 1950 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was a loving mother to her three children, Gabriel, Gideon, and Ramona. Deborah was self-taught for most of her professional career. Incredibly resourceful, she learned by experience and training, and worked both locally and internationally. She decided to return to university later in life and earned her Master's degree in Community Economic Development in 2016. Deborah devoted her life, working tirelessly for political and community organizations to make the world a better place. Though serious about her work, and strong in her convictions, when she smiled, she smiled big with interest, curiosity, thoughtfulness and love. She was full of compassion for humanity and worked until the day she died in service of others, always believing, no matter what, that a better world is possible. She not only envisioned that bigger picture, she was practical about taking the action steps to put plans into motion. She is survived by two of her children, Gabriel Becker and Ramona Kirschenman, and two grandchildren Max Becker and Jacob Sahon Kirschenman, and a great number of people that she considered her extended family. A ""green"" burial service will be held Monday, June 11 at 1pm at the Riverside Cemetery in Sunderland, MA and a reception will be held immediately following the service at the Polish American Club, 46 S. Main Street in South Deerfield, MA.
