Debra Mason Obituary

Debra Mason

Whately, MA - Debra Ann Mason, 65, of Whately, Massachusetts, passed away on December 23rd, 2024.

Deb was born in Springfield on February 14th, 1959, to the late John and Joan Bryden. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Tony Mason; two sons, Michael Mason and his wife, Kelley Mason of Whately and Christopher Mason and his wife, Jillian Mason of Deerfield; a sister, Julie Morgan of West Springfield; two brothers, Michael and his wife Cindy of Feeding Hills, and Daniel and his wife Dawn of Feeding Hills; and four grandchildren, Morgan, Riley, Zoey and Jack Mason. Deb is also survived by several amazing aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews whom she cared deeply about.

Deb was a 1977 graduate of Agawam High School. After graduating from Agawam High school, she studied to become a nurse and worked as an RN for many years at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. She eventually left nursing and for over 20 years, she worked at Frontier Regional before retiring in 2024.

Deb lived for her children and grandchildren and served as the head of the booster club while her kids played sports at Frontier and traveled to see all her grandchildren play sports. She was the one with the loudest voice and had to be asked by her sons to quiet down as she cheered unapologetically for her grandkids.

She will be dearly missed by her whole family and while we understand that she had many friends, the services will be private. In lieu of flowers, we would ask that donations be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude’s.

To all of you good folks who took the time to convey your heartfelt condolences. I want you to know that, if it were possible, Debs kind and loving eyes would be smiling at you all, without exception, for the comfort you have conveyed to her family. She would want you to pray for our grandchildren because they have to grieve over this that they don´t even really understand yet.
You should all know that I, without a doubt, married up to the kindest and gentlest spirit that could ever have graced my life. The fit we had was seamless and easy. Yesterday I heard myself say out loud, "come lay on the couch with me sweetie so we can watch a movie together," before I even knew I was saying it.
I thank you all for the kind words meant to comfort me and my boys and I want you to know that the greatest comfort that I can get is knowing that Debs eyes are now beholding the greatest glory that the human eye can behold. The Glory of the Almighty is filling her soul, through those beautiful windows that I have stared into so many times with the undying love that I have for her, the love that belongs to her as long as I have breath in my lungs, and if possible, beyond.
Also, to be able to hold in her arms our middle child that we never saw take a breath but who was perfect at 13 months. The happiness that she feels now eclipses that sadness she held all these years and healed a wound she never could get over in this life. She walked with the dignity and strength of a beautiful mature women carrying those scars, tempering them with the grace and beauty that was hers. The beautiful happiness and contentment she got from the family she shaped and the grace she accepted humbly from the Almighty and His promises that she counted on.
Wait for me darling. I will be there in Gods time.

Her face lit up when speaking about her grandchildren and there was a pride in her voice when speaking about her boys.
