Turners Falls, MA - Dennis G. Moore, (Denny) 74, of Sunset Drive died on Monday, December 12, 2022, at home peacefully surrounded by his family. He was born in Greenfield on January 24, 1948, the son of George C. and Margaret (Feeney) Moore. Dennis attended Holy Trinity school and was a graduate of Greenfield High School Class of 1966.

Denny married Wanda (Taylor) on September 6, 1969, at Holy Trinity Church in Greenfield.

Denny served in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam after an honorable discharge due to injuries. He continued his education at Greenfield Community College obtaining an Associates Degree in both Liberal Arts and Fire Science.

Starting his 40-year career with the state of Massachusetts, Denny was well known for his years as a Firewatcher atop Mount Toby. Denny saw it all from the 65-foot tower which sits 1,269 feet above sea level. He then spent the remainder of his career as a Forest and Parks Supervisor for the Department of Conservation and Recreation until the time of his retirement.

Denny was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and spending time in his hunting camp DILLIGAF in Dover Foxcroft, Maine. He also loved planting his vegetable garden every spring and playing cribbage. He was a life member of the Greenfield lodge of Elks 1296. Denny was a past trustee of 15 years and was the recipient of the Elks National Veterans Commission Service Award in 2000. He was very instrumental in the Elks Veterans programs in Leeds, MA for over 30 years. He was a life member of the Turners Falls Rod and Gun Club and a member of the Northfield VFW Post 9874.

Besides his beloved wife of 53 years, Wanda (Taylor) Moore, Denny leaves a son, Tim Moore, and his wife Kellie; three daughters, Kelli Snow and her husband David, Nicki Miner and her husband John, and Tori Thomas and her husband Ralph. He was Pop Pop to his six grandchildren, Taylor and Kyle Moore, Kasey and Dylan Snow, and Sophia and Marshall Thomas along with several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Denny was predeceased by his sister, Kathleen Moore and his mother-in-law, Virginia Taylor.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 19, 2022, at 10am at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal Street, Greenfield. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Greenfield.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, December 18, 2022, from 1-3pm at the funeral home.
