Edward J. Mogelinski

SUNDERLAND, MA — Edward J. Mogelinski, 88, of 167 Plumtree Road passed away peacefully on September 6, 2021 at home lovingly surrounded by his family. He was born in Sunderland on March 17, 1933. He was the son of Paul and Stella (Duczak) Mogelinski. He worked for Drop Forge, Deerfield Farm Bureau, Hubbard Farm, Staab Oil and Agway Petroleum and later retired from the University of massachusetts. Ed was a member of Holy Family Church in South Deerfield.

He enjoyed gardening, cooking his Polish dishes, his family and his grandchildren. He enjoyed his first plane trip with his brother Joe to Nashville and had the privilege of watching a live Grand Old Opry show. He enjoyed the family trip to Niagara Falls. He loved his sunflowers and gardening of which he donated many vegetables to family, friends, neighbors and survival centers. He loved mowing his lawn and plowing with his tractor and enjoyed watching his horses. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.

He married the love of his life Alyce J. Lastowski in St. Stanislaus Church on February 14, 1954. All of their married life was spent in Sunderland. His wife predeceased him in 2004.

He leaves five daughters: Paula and Joan of Sunderland, Carla Mokrzecki and her partner Donald Dion of Hadley, Gerardine Lefebvre and her husband Brian of Belchertown, Karen Niedbala and her husband John of Sunderland and one son, Steven Mogelinski and his wife Jane of Leyden . He leaves his grandchildren: Amber Tyrala and her husband Greg of Hatfield, Crystal Niedbala of Sunderland, Paul Mokrzecki Jr., Kristin Mokrzecki and her partner David Rhyman all of Hadley, Adam Mokrzecki and his partner Morgan Cantlin of Sunderland, Matthew Mogelinski and his wife Elizabeth of Leyden, Nicholas and Olivia Mogelinski of Greenfield. Edward had two great grandchildren: Brooklynne and Colt. He was predeceased by five sisters: Helena, Stella, Olga, Jean, Sophie and five brothers: Joseph, Paul Jr., Stanley, Walter and Michael.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Holy Family Church Renovation Fund, 29 Sugarloaf Street, South Deerfield 01373 or to Cooley Dickinson VNA and Hospice, 30 Locust Street, Northampton 01060. We wish to thank Cooley Dickinson Hospice staff for their excellent care given to Edward. There were no calling hours. Funeral service burial was private at St Stanislaus Cemetery.
