Eleanor Bittner Obituary
Greenfield, MA - Eleanor Ruth (Newcomb) Bittner of Greenfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 9, 2023 in the loving care of her niece Leena Newcomb at the age of 102.
She was predeceased by her husband Harold after 69 years of marriage, her sister Dorothy and her brother Earl.
Eleanor leaves three sons: William (Charlyn), James and Thomas (Linda), three grandchildren: Brett (Tara), Erin (Gary) and Lauren (Blake), five great grandchildren: Daegan, Brendan, Bryce, Emma and Benjamin, and several nieces, nephews, and their spouses and children.
Eleanor was a graduate of Greenfield High School, an active member of the First Methodist Church of Greenfield, and a regular diner at Brad's Place in Greenfield.
She enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, crafts and walking. She will be remembered for her warm, friendly chats, long downtown walks, and well-padded "indestructable" pot holders.
There will be no services or calling hours in accordance with her express wishes for only a small private family gathering.

I was a pca for Eleanor 3-4 years ago! i loved chatting with her while i cleaned, and was always impressed that a 99 year old lady was better off in shape then i was in my young 20's! A Wonderful,wonderful person who i loved spending a few hours with every week! So saddened to hear of her passing!

With the holidays I was thinking of you Auntie Bit. I am saddened to see your passing- but so happy you are back with you love.
I always enjoyed my time with you, your letters always brought a smile to my face. I have fond memories of both you and uncle bit.

I loved seeing Eleanor walking downtown in her huge puffer coat down to her ankles as she went about her errands. She will be missed as the energy she brought to the world around her was calming.
