Evelyn V. Storozuk
SUNDERLAND, MA — Evelyn Storozuk passed away peacefully at Poets Seat Health Care Center on Friday October 15th. 2021 following a short illness. She was born in Hatfield on February 10, 1931, the daughter of John and Kamelia (Karwarski) Cackowski. She was educated in the Hatfield Schools.
She married Walter Storozuk in 1948 and spent the early years of their marriage helping run the family farm in Sunderland. After retiring from farming, she spent the remainder of her life as a homemaker. Evelyn was a member of Holy Family Parish in South Deerfield. In their retirement, Evelyn and Walter enjoyed Polka Dancing, Bingo and the occasional visit to Atlantic City until he passed away in 2002.
Evelyn is survived by her two sons, Robert and Walter Jr. of Sunderland, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, her brothers Frank and Andrew who was killed in action in France in 1944, and her sisters Rose Kubilis, Virginia Symanski, Sophy Erman, and Jennie Waskiewicz, as well as a niece Patricia Erman Hodges and a nephew Anthony Symanski Jr. Evelyn was the youngest and last surviving member of her family. The family would like to thank the staff of Poets Seat Health Care for caring for Evelyn during the last months.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday (10/21/2021) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wrisley Funeral Home Chapel, 90 Sugarloaf Street, South Deerfield. Funeral services will be Friday (10/22/2021) from the funeral home at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church, celebrated by Father Jonathan Reardon. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Donations in Evelyn's name can be made to The Sunderland Fire Department.
