Gerald Alvin Sweet

North Hatfield, MA - Gerald Alvin Sweet passed away peacefully at home with his daughters by his side after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer.

Gerry was born on January 14, 1956 in Buckland, MA to the late Gordon and Goldie (Slaunwhite) Sweet. He is survived by his brothers Ronnie Sweet (Julie) and Richie Sweet (Leatha). His sisters Dottie Claus, Patricia Thibodeau (Daniel), and Sister in Law, Judy Sweet. His daughters Mandy Lyn Sweet-Antes (James) and Elisha Sweet. Grandaughter Jordyn Lily Guzman, Great Grandchildren Foster Benoit and Junyper Benoit, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves a great love and special friend, Gina Vaughn of Maine and many friends that he has shared his life with. He was predeceased by his brother David Sweet.

Gerry grew up in Buckland and attended Mohawk Trail Regional High School. He worked at Deerfield Plastics as a shipper and continued to move up through positions leading up to an electrical apprenticeship. He eventually left what was then called Pliant to go out on his own as a Licensed Electrician. Before retiring, he worked for a few years in the electrical department at the Veterans Affairs in Leeds.

Gerry was a jack-of-all-trades, from welding, carpentry, mechanics, electrical, and plumbing where he used his knowledge to help all he could.

He enjoyed time boating, motorcycling, hunting, and traveling to the State of Maine.

A celebration of life will be held on June 1, 2025 between 1 and 4 at the American Legion Post 236, 5 Bridge Street, Haydenville, MA 01039. Contributions in Gerry's memory may also be made to this location. In honor of Gerry, live every day to it's fullest.
