Turners Falls, MA — Gladys S. Devino, 99, of Montague Street died Friday, August 19, at home. She was born on September 3, 1922 in Turners Falls, the daughter of Peter and Beatrice (Russell) Saulnier. She attended local schools in Turners Falls and was a graduate of Turners Falls High School Class of 1940.

She worked in the office of the Director of Auxiliary Services at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst before her retirement. Prior to that she was employed at the Greenfield Tap & Die.

Gladys married William J. Devino in St. Anne's Church in Turners Falls on August 4, 1942, and they were married for seventy-two years before his passing on March 20, 2015.

Among her survivors, Gladys leaves a son, Bill Devino (Trish) and a daughter, Laurie Devino (Brian Derry). She also leaves her grandson Jonathan Devino (Kate) and their children, Lauren and Lillian; a great grandson, Clancy Shaw; her nieces, Maureen Powers Mikucki and Lynette Saulnier; and her nephews, Terence Devino, SJ, Tim Donovan, Bill Donovan, Fran Powers, and Corey Saulnier.

Besides her parents and her beloved husband, Gladys was predeceased by a sister, Bernice Powers and a brother, Raymond Saulnier.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, August 25 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street, Turners Falls. Burial will follow at Springdale Cemetery in Turners Falls.

There will be no calling hours.
