Glenn LaClaire Obituary

Glenn P. LaClaire

Leverett, MA - Glenn P. LaClaire, 58, of North Leverett Road passed into his heavenly home Sunday 7/6/25 in Portsmouth, NH. He was born in Greenfield on January 30, 1967, the son of Wayne E. and Barbara (Williams) LaClaire.

Glenn was raised in North Leverett and attended Leverett Elementary School, and then Amherst Regional High School where he graduated with the class of 1985 along with his wife Tina. After high school he worked as an apprentice carpenter and then started his own business, LaClaire Carpentry, which he operated with pride for close to 40 years.

Glenn had many passions, including carpentry, using his saw mill, running heavy equipment, hanging out with his dog, Dozer, hunting, fishing, camping, tinkering on his hot rods, motorcycle rides, and above all of these things, spending time with his beloved family, who he included in everything he did. He took tremendous pride in his work, passing on much of his knowledge to his sons, nephews, and anyone who dared to work with him. Most days after coming home from a long day of work with his three sons and Bobby, he would take a short break, and then continue working on his never ending list of projects, forcing anyone who was "standing around not doing anything" for more than 30 seconds to help him, usually being his sons or his nephew, Dustin, and often his wife, who all learned to love it. He would then wind his day down with his wife, the love of his life, eating a bowl of ice cream while watching old westerns like "Gunsmoke". Although much of his time was spent working, Glenn lived by the motto "work hard play hard", which he also instilled in his boys. He had the habit of going above and beyond to make any activity fun and, well, often times somewhat dangerous (i.e.. the annual backyard easter egg shootout). More than anything he loved spending time with his two grandchildren, who brought out his softer side. He was very excited with the growth of his family and also getting the daughters he never had, but always wanted, in his daughter in-laws Madison and Kelsey. He had a keen sense of humor and a knack for drawing people to him with his infectious smile. He always included everyone he loved in whatever he did, from hunting excursions to holiday fun. He was a cheerful giver, always lending a helping hand to anyone in need. His home that he built always had wide open doors to friends and strangers alike.

Glenn built his life on honor and integrity and was the definition of a God fearing family man and it showed. He loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who he is now with in glory. He attended Christ Community Church in Belchertown with his family. Glenn poured his entire heart and soul into his family. He was beyond the best husband, father, grandfather, father in-law, brother, uncle and friend that anyone could ever ask for and will be greatly missed by many.

Besides his loving wife of thirty three years, Tina (Meldon) LaClaire, Glenn leaves three sons, Kyle and his wife Madison, Dean and his wife Kelsey and Cole; two grandchildren, Bennett and Evelynn; two sisters, Vicki Hartley and her husband John and Verna Godoy and her husband Nelson; and many beloved nieces and nephews, including, Dustin Williams.

A celebration of life will be held on August 30th at Christ Community Church in Belchertown at 11:00am. All are welcome.

I remember Glenn from junior and senior high school. He was always so nice to everyone, and he hung out with a group of students where I was on the fringe. I remember him cracking jokes, and always being kind to people around him. Tina, I'm so sorry for your loss. My condolences to you and your family.
