James "Jack" A. Britton
Southbury, CT — James "Jack" A. Britton passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer's at the age of 90, just three weeks away from his 91st birthday. Born in Greenfield, MA the third of six children to the late Ruth (Higgins) Britton and James A. Britton. Jack was predeceased by three sisters - Janice, Joyce and Marcia. Jack attended Deerfield Academy in Deerfield, MA, Syracuse University and Wharton School of Finance at the University of PA. He spent his whole career in the field of commercial finance and commercial property appraisal retiring in his mid-eighties. He appraised properties in 49 of the 50 states, missing North Dakota, the Caribbean, Europe and the Middle East. Jack co-authored a 700-page textbook on financing income producing property. During his career he earned many professional designations including MAI, CRE and FRICS and was a licensed realtor in several New England states. Although his vocation in the field of real estate, he was an avid sports fan and spent his weekends as a paid football official at the college level throughout the Northeast. Jack is survived by two sons, Stephen and Robert and his wife Shari, three grandchildren Skyler, Amanda and Hannah and soon to be first great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his sister Jean and brother Robert and a long-time friend, partner and caregiver for over 50 years, Barbara Stover. Due to COVID virus services will be private.
