John Borkowski

Montague, MA - John Henry Borkowski, 70, of 363 Greenfield Road in Montague passed away on November 3rd at home. He was born May 2, 1953 in Montague to Stanley and Julia (Garbiel) Borkowski.

John attended Montague public schools and graduated from Greenfield Vocational in 1972. He worked as a car mechanic for Johnson's Sunoco in Greenfield before moving on to a job with Transamerica as a mechanic working on 18 wheelers. He was most recently employed by Greenfield Glass Co. in Greenfield designing and replacing windows until his retirement.

John enjoyed restoring and rebuilding cars and helping friends with theirs. He was a race car enthusiast and he once owned and raced a car at Monadnock Speedway called "The Borkowski Bobcat". He could often be found watching Nascar and football - his two favorite things - on two televisions at once, while barbequing ribs on his grill and playing classic rock on his jukebox.

John also loved to fish and hunt, forage for mushrooms, and he was an avid gardener and cook, making his own pickles and spaghetti sauce. He loved to ride his motorcycle and lend his carpentry skills whenever asked.

John leaves behind his siblings, Eugene (Sue) Borkowski of Bradenton, FL, Carol (Jon) Rastallis of Montague, MA, Jeanne McCarthy of Northfield, MA, Jane Paulin of Boothbay Harbor, ME, and Diane (Richard) Andersen of Montague, MA, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Stanley & Julia, and his brother-in-law, Arthur Paulin. John will be deeply missed. There will be no services.
