Hatfield, MA - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of Joshua Geyer Mizula- Samson, 17, of Hatfield, a beloved soul whose journey on this earth touched the lives of all who had the privilege to know him. While words may barely capture the fullness of a life so brightly lived, we gather in memory, in gratitude, and in celebration of a remarkable son, grandson, brother, nephew, and friend, whose warmth, wisdom, and resilience illuminated every path he walked.

Josh was born in Holyoke on March 15, 2008, to Ernie Samson Jr. and Ashley Mizula both of Hatfield. He was educated in Hatfield schools and was about to enter his senior year at Smith Vocational and Agriculture High School where he excelled in the automotive department. His love for fixing anything car related was not only during school hours, but also out of school as he had worked for Florence Towing.

He is survived by his parents, his mother, Ashley Mizula of Hatfield, his father, Ernie Samson Jr. of Hatfield, his brother, Caleb Douyard of Whately, his sister, Chloe Jane Samson of Heath, his grandparents, Donald and Pat Mizula of Florence, Nancy Samson and Michael Florio of Northampton, Ernie and Katie Samson Sr. of Belchertown, aunts, Shaunna Mizula of Conway, Erin Samson of Northampton, Brenda Samson of Belchertown, his uncle, Cody Mizula and his wife Brie of Peru, his girlfriend, Savannah Griffin of Deerfield, his best friends A.J. and Sam, several cousins, extended family, and many friends.

Calling hours will be Saturday August 16, 2025, from 11 AM – 2 PM at the DROZDAL FUNERAL HOME, 120 DAMON RD., NORTHAMPTON. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Let us honor Josh's memory not only in words, but in deeds-in every act of compassion, in every moment of connection, in the courage to face life's uncertainties with hope. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing Josh's spirit lives on in all who were touched by his presence.
