Judith Bohonowicz

Whately, MA - Judith Ann (Kortz) Bohonowicz of Whately passed away on December 13th, 2024 at the age of 73 after a short fight with lung cancer.

Born July 22, 1951 in Greenfield MA, daughter of the late Theodore "Jocko" & Florence (MacDonald) Kortz, where she lived and graduated from Greenfield High School before becoming a lifelong resident of Whately.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her former husband Peter Bohonowicz & brother Jim Gariepy.

Judy worked extremely hard for her family most of her life starting as a hairdresser before becoming a dedicated employee to Yankee Candle for decades, before retiring in 2018 to spend time with her family and granddaughter Adrianna born that year.

She was a loyal friend and to those that knew her, knew Judy as being full of "spit & vinegar". She enjoyed playing penny slots at Foxwoods and her margarita and fries at the Northampton Brewery with her family. Most of all she couldn't get enough of her granddaughter Adrianna and looked forward to her weekly trips to take her to gymnastics class.

Judy leaves her son Jason Bohonowicz & his wife Kerri and the light of her life, her granddaughter Adrianna of Hadley. Also left to mourn are her longtime partner and friend Richard Gauthier of Turners Falls along with many other friends and family.

A celebration of life will be planned for the Spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society.
