Lois Sluter
Northfield, MA — Lois N. Sluter, 94 of Northfield, Ma. died Thursday (2-10-2022) at Poet Seat Healthcare Center, Greenfield, Ma. She was born October 14, 1927 in Whittinsville, Ma. the daughter of William and Dona (Mantel) Norman. Lois was an avid gardener, lover of birds and animals, canning her own preserves, sewing, writing, reading, classical music, and found peace in her home in the woods, and the sounds of the ocean when she visited the Cape in her younger years. Often times when visiting, you would find her sitting outside soaking up the summer sun, watching the birds land on her feeders, or she would be walking in her multiple flower garden taking in the beauty of the flowers she planted. In the evening you would find her listening to Johnny Most deliver his commentary for a Celtics game, or WBZ radio and Gil Santos, and Dave Maynard and would often listen to Paul Harvey on ABC radio. Lois had worked for the Chamber of Commerce in Athol, Massachusetts. During her time she was sent on assignment to Athol, Scotland where she ws able to experience Scottish games, food, gardens, made many new friends and found true love listening to the bagpipes. When she spoke of Scotland her eyes would light up and her stories would flow as she spoke of her experience.
Lois is survived by Sandy Sherman (daughter), Nicole and Jacob Sherman (grandchildren) of Vermont, Cindii Weir (daughter) of Massachusetts, Eric and Leigh Wartel (grandchildren) and Jim Rath (son) of Massachusetts, and was predeceased by her son Jeff Rath of Washington, DC whose children were Jacob and Brendan Rath (grandchildren)
Lois was surrounded by love and passed peacefully, my prayer is that peace will always by with her now.
