Margaret Vincent Obituary

Margaret Ann Vincent

Greenfield, MA - Margaret Ann Vincent "Peggy" "Gram" (Scryba) passed away peacefully Monday at home surrounded by her family on February 26, 2024.

Margaret was born in Greenfield, MA on January 23, 1937, she is the daughter of Minnie and Peter Scryba. On January 29,1955 she married Richard J Vincent at Holy Trinity Church Main St. in Greenfield, MA where together they planted family roots on Leyden Rd and raised their family for the next 58 years, recently celebrating their 69th Wedding Anniversary.

Peggy, as she was known in the early years at Snow's Dairy worked as their short order cook for 20 years before she decided to leave to open "Peggy's Daycare" so she could help raise her grandchildren, this is where she became "Gram" to all. Many local children attended her daycare where she always had a fun new project planned and holidays were always a big event including apple bobbing on Halloween, the Easter Bunny visiting with egg hunts & homemade Valentines' cards.

Mom loved creating crafts and painting, many family members were gifted with these over the years as well as quilts she made that would emphasize each person's personality, her talents did not end there she had made all of her children's wedding cakes, a few that tiered to the sky with waterfalls. Mom was never without a camera in her hands to capture every memory possible, even while being the proudest & loudest cheerleader on the sidelines at all the kids' sports games she still managed to capture the special moments. Best cook and baker in our family by far, fondly remembering her passion for spending time in the kitchen, this is where she would teach all the family children growing up how to roll out a pie crust and make any Christmas cookie they chose out of her Betty Crocker Cookbooks. She also made sure everyone was skilled at making golumpkis and pierogies, not sure if she ever did let the secret out to the famous "Gram's Cream Puffs"… ssshhh "It's a splash of LOVE."

She was our family matriarch, this was resonated by her kindness, making sure everyone knew how proud she was of them, the amount of time she spent with all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and most recently the visits from her great great granddaughters. Her day was not complete until she viewed all the videos she would receive of her youngest great grandsons and watching her great granddaughters grow into beautiful young ladies, she found so much joy in watching her family thrive, making sure everyone knew how loved and supported they were. With every beat of our hearts, we will forever remember and you will never be forgotten for the life lessons of independence, promise. She touched many lives and was an amazing Wife, Mother, Gram, and Friend. She had special lifelong friends that were considered "family" Millie, Rosie, and Tootsie (all predeceased) and Margaret.

Survivors she leaves behind, her husband, Richard "Dick" Vincent, her four children, Marcia L Vincent, Pamela J Vigneault (Bruce), Richard "Dean" Vincent (Alicia) and Vicki Ann Vincent.

her eight grandchildren, Margaret Corey (Casey), Eve Mills, Ryan Vigneault (Stephanie), Richard Vincent (Cortney), Chasy Vincent, Jeffrey Vigneault (Emily), Amanda Vincent and Nicholas Vincent, her seven great grandchildren Alexis Lambert (Ryan), Abby and Sadie Corey, Lianna Bolanos, Colson Vincent, Griffin Vigneault, Henry Vigneault, and her great grand pup Rosie Louis, who brought her a morning smile and laughter as she watched Rosie play from the kitchen window. Her great great granddaughters Addison, Everleigh, and Olivia Lambert. Her brother Dennis Scryba (Mary & children),

Margaret was predeceased by her parents and a sister.

Our entire family would like to extend our gratitude to our sister Marcia for her unwavering kindness and care she gave our mother over the last year and her last days. We appreciate you and we love you.

Mom, you are our "Spirit in The Sky" ….. just one more ((hug)) to last a lifetime.

Per Mom's wishes for "no frills" a private family graveside service will be held in the spring at The Calvary Cemetery in Greenfield, MA.

The family would like to ask that in lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to your local animal shelter.

I lost touch after my mother's passing (margaret) aka Tootsie, but i will never forget the times when I was young, I would spend the summers with aunt Peggy and the family. So much fun. The times her and Dick would stop down at the campground when we were camping or come to ct for a visit. I always looked forward to her bringing her fresh garden cucumbers. Because they were the largest I have ever seen and so delicious. My mother and Peggy, we're close and spent lots of times doing what they love. Now that they are both passed on, they can continue their legacy in heaven. I will miss you both.

Rest in eternal peace, Aunt Peg

I will always remember Aunt Peg as she took my sister Penney and myself out of the foster home system in VA. Aunt Peg and Uncle Dick took us in for a short time. The memories of wonderful smells coming from the kitchen while I would help Uncle Dick with the cord wood or garden. She always called us in for a home cooked meal. She kept a very clean home and always made sure my sister and I had plenty to eat. We used to go to the fairs with Uncle Dick and then come back to a warm loving home with her huge smile gleeming at us. All the seasons were celebrated at Aunt Pegs and Uncle Dick's house. We were able to see how a normal household is run. Aunt Peg truly held everything together with her love.

I was saddened to learn the passing of Aunt Peg.
Instantly brought me back to the fun days of childhood at Aunt Peg and Uncle Dick´s house. From sledding on the hill at Wright´s Farm, ice skating on the "pond" in the lower field, to snowmobiling the vast fields behind the house, sugar on snow and pulling taffy to swimming, tubing down at the pumping station, gardening/canning and all the cookouts and holiday gatherings!
We shared the love of crafting, painting and making things with our hands.
She made me feel loved and protected as a kid.
Sending my heartfelt condolences to the family as they mourn the loss of their loved one.
Grief is so hard, but our special memories help us cope. Remembering you and your loved one today and always
